OUR STORY
Kornak & Hamm's Pharmacy was founded in 1981 by Adeline Hamm and Harry Kornak, who wanted to create a pharmacy that would empower patients and provide exceptional care. Adeline was well respected in our community for providing patients with personalized, holistic care. She was a strong advocate for bio-identical hormones and believed in empowering patients through education and understanding.

David & MARCIEÂ
David Shand decided to become a pharmacist after receiving career advice from his aunt and uncle, Adeline and Martin Hamm, and graduated from UBC Pharmacy in 2014. David grew up spending summers in the Cariboo, and seized the opportunity to move to Williams Lake when a Cathie Hamm offered to pass down Kornak & Hamm’s pharmacy to her cousin when she was ready to retire. David carries on the legacy of personal care, and dedication to community that Cathie and Adeline Hamm garnished at Kornak & Hamm's Pharmacy.
Marcie Shand is a vibrant addition to Williams Lake and the Kornak & Hamm's Pharmacy team. Her friendly and hard working attitude, along with her previous experience as a kitchen designer allowed her to transform the pharmacy into the business we now know today. In addition to hiring new staff, she guided the renovation of the entire pharmacy. Marcie’s experience at the pharmacy has sharpened her managerial and business skills, allowing her to expand the Pharmacy’s building to new tenants. She is passionate about creating opportunities for businesses and health care to thrive. Marcie and David's caring and attentive attitude help the community of Williams Lake feel supported in their journey in health.
Today
David and Marcie have accomplished so much and truly feel a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment. They have created a life beyond their dreams, living in a postcard-perfect setting.
Their pharmacy is incredibly accessible, with patients able to walk in and speak with a pharmacist within ten steps.
The pharmacy is staffed by six supporting team members, three full-time pharmacists, and a part-time nurse to assist with injections. They are in the process of attracting even more pharmacy staff to further expand their capabilities. They have a compounding technician on-site and offer level-A compounding services. The pharmacy has assembled a diverse, highly skilled, incredibly friendly, empathetic team. Cathie's stepdaughter continues to work at the pharmacy as the compliance packaging manager, and David's aunt has been trained in bookkeeping and staff management. Marcie keeps everything running smoothly, while David has become a local star in the pharmacy community, with all of his patients feeling deeply supported by him.
David and Marcie have built something truly special and feel immensely proud of their accomplishments and the positive impact they are having on their community.
